So woke up early today and went into college on my
day off, also my first day for the half-term holiday,
to continue to work on my model.

I continued to cut the remaining piece for the model,
sanded down the edges, and also checked if the lengths
were correct.




I had a talk with Matt. My first idea was to cut out
frames from the MDF where the windows will go, but
I decided this would take to long. Matt suggested that,
as I'm good a CAD, I should create the windows on the
computer, then print them out and stick them on to the
model. Acetate could be used to make it shine. Plus, as
this is not my final piece its not important for it to look
exactly like the design.

I then stated to glue the piece down.

Now, the model is stuck down.
I will leave it to dry and then we we return from half-term I
will paint it and add all the finiahing touches like the windows
and the archs.

I went in late to class.....I wasn't feeling myself in
the morning and I was also angry due to certain
people in my life.

Anyways, when I got to class I printed out my design
for the arena.

I then went into the workshop to make my model, which
I am making out of MDF.

Matt said it would be best if I cut some grooves into the
base material and then slot the other pieces in place.
So, Matt cut these grooves into the base piece for me.

The places were the grooves are not needed will be filled
with a filler.

I then continued with cutting the pieces for the building.

I cut most of them out and only had a few left in the end.


We then had a group critique at the end. I went first.
It was funny, because after I explained what I had done
and what I was going to do, Matt asked the class if they
would recommened anything else, but nobody resoponed.
lol. Jo then said to me that my work is perfect and
there's nothing else she could say for me to do, and Liam
also said it was really good.


In between the group critique the fire alarm went off,
actually it sound more like a siren, lol. It was actually kind
of annoying. So, we were stuck in the cold for a while. It
seemed like there was a fire on the 3rd floor, the Science
department. Jo had left her portfolio and sketchbook in
the class, and Ravika and Zulfikar had also left their
sketchbooks there . We tired to figure out how to get
them out. lol But, then after a while we went back into the
college.

In the lesson I decided I should develop my
CAD work so I started to develop my design
ideas is SketchUp.

The design I was working on, at first looked
a little boring. Although the design idea had
come from the light painting photography I
had done ealier, it didn't look as if the idea
had developed from the photography.

After a talk with Kate I decided I should not
be realistic with the design, as that way I can
develop a much more interesting and
asthetically pleasing design for the building
(arena). Then this can be edited afterwards
tp be a little more realistic. I must also consider
how the enviroment & sustainability will effect
my design.

In the lesson I did a little sketchbook work and
also made some more 3D models this time with
card.

I had a talk with Matt and dicussed what I need
to do next. I told him I need to do start doing some
CAD designs. Matt sugested I also start to make
some 3D models out of other material.
I will continue to make the models in my next lesson
and will probabaly be using MDF and acrylic.

In the lesson I decided that I should work with
3D. I also continued with the clay work I started
last week.

The glass piece I had left for fusing last work was
done.

At first you couldn't see through it as there was plaster
stuck to the back. After I cleaned it off if became visible
the glass melted well and the colours changed as
expected.

I then continued to make the mold for the glass
bending.
I made a mixture of plaster and molocite and
poured this onto the clay mold. It took about an
hour or so to set.


This will be put into the kiln and the glass will melt
into the shape of the mold.

Kate made us do a quick make session where we
had to make something in 3D with the materials
provided and connected to our project.

It's just something totally random. lol

After that I made some 3D objects with some metal
mesh. These designs ideas were developed from
the long exposure photography (light painting) I did
ealier on.

I will continue to develop small 3D models and also
developing my ideas using CAD software, including
SketchUp.
